Stamp #'s 562 & 15 Christmas Card

For this card I took a piece of red cardstock and trimmed it so there would be just a small border all around.  Then I measured in at the top right and bottom left approximately 1/4" and drew a line. I didn't want the pattern paper to be exactly corner to corner.  Once I had my line drawn, I cut my pattern paper and attached it.  I used Stamp # 15 and stamped the Holiday Cheer with versamark ink and applied gold embossing powder and heat embossed.  After it was done I wish I had used white embossing powder instead of the gold.....I then took my 2-way glue pen and went over the pencil line and then attached a strip of red and white bakers twine. The tree was cut on my vagabond using an Obsession Impression die and then glitter snow was applied and it was attached to the card.  I then used Stamp #562 and stamped 2 presents, fussy cut and used gold and silver metallic pens to color the ribbons and polka dots on the presents before attaching them to the card.

Stamp # 258 Christmas Card

If you don't want to spend a lot of time making a card, here's a 5 minute card that looks like you spent hours on!

Real simple - I took a piece of gold metallic cardstock and wrapped a piece of red velvet ribbon around it and attached it to the card base. 

For the Peace on Earth label I used a "paint sample" - yep, you heard me right, a paint sample that I picked up at the paint store!  These little pieces of paper come in pretty darn handy when you need just a small piece of some odd color............anyways, I die cut the label and then took emboss gloss and applied gold embossing powder and heat embossed.  Then I took Stamp # 258 and stamped with versamark ink; applied gold embossing powder and heat embossed.  Die cut 3 sprigs using an Obsession Impression die and attached them to the back of the label and then attached the label to the card.  Finished it off with a simple knot in a smaller red velvet ribbon.

Stamp #'s 332, 186 & 552 Christmas Card

Here's a fun and whimsical card that's pretty easy.  First I die cut the opening on the front of the card so the snowman would show through.  To determine exactly where to stamp my snowman on the inside of the card, I lightly traced around the opening with a pencil and then used Stamp # 332 and stamped my snowman.   I then applied my Quickie Glue pen around the opening on the front and allowed that to dry before adding the silver glitter.  I then went back to the snowman and applied my Quickie Glue pen to his hat, buttons, eyes, arms and the shadow on his body and allowed that to dry before applying black glitter.  I didn't want to add white glitter to his body but wanted to do something so I painted him with Smooch (moonlight) which gave him a shimmer.  Last, I took an orange water color pencil and colored his nose.  With the inside complete, I felt the front needed something more so I stamped the Let it Snow (which is from my stash) with Archival Brilliance - Lightning Black and then used snowflake stamps Stamp # 552 & 186 with Archival Brilliance - Platinum Planet and just added a few dots of silver stickles.

Stamp #433 - Christmas Card

Here's a real quick and easy card using Stamp #433

for the base of the card I took 2 scraps of card stock and taped them together on the back.

I stamped the NOEL on white cardstock with versamark ink and then applied a deep red Perfect Pearls for a shimmer; painted the leaves with a green metallic paint and die cut with a Spellbinders die.  Then I took a craft knife and cut 2 slits slightly smaller than the width of the ribbon and threaded a red satin through and wrapped the ends around and taped them in place and attached everything to the card base.

Stamp # 19 - Christmas Card

Don't limit yourself to only use "scrapbook" paper when there are so many pretty wrapping papers available...............plus, they're inexpensive and you get a LOT for your buck!

For this card I used a scrap of Christmas wrapping paper and used my trusty Quickie Glue Pen and applied glue to the tree branches and trees and then rubbed Tim Holtz Distress Glitter over them. I used an Obsession Impression die to cut the deer and attached one of them with a pop dot and the other with just a glue dot.

I took a scrap of brown cardstock and used Stamp #19 with versamark ink and applied JudiKins sticky stuff embossing powder and heat embossed.  I wanted to try something different other than your typical glitter or embossing powder so I applied Stampendous Fun Flock  - cinnamon toast which gives it a "fuzzy" look.  I matted the Happy Holidays on a scrap of red cardstock and attached it to the card.

Fun Fold Base Card

Here are the instructions for creating the FUN FOLD card I used to make Stamp #350 - Christmas Card

• Card base is 8 1/2" x 5 1/2" piece of cardstock.  Fold in half and then trim off 1 1/4" from the front flap.
• For the inside, cut a sheet of paper to 4" x 5 1/4" but DO NOT attach it yet.
• For the flap, cut a piece of cardstock to 4 1/4" x 3 3/4" and score at 1 1/4" so when folded the flap will measure 3"
• Attach the flap to the inside of the card - making sure to line up the crease of the flap to the edge of the card.
• Attach the 4" x 5 1/4" sheet of paper you cut for the inside. 

Stamp # 350 - Christmas Card

After creating the FUN FOLD card base (instructions are posted under labels - "tips and techniques") I used Stamp #350 and stamped the image on white cardstock and colored the collar; shirt and face with Copic Markers.  For the striped on the bottom of this jolly guy; the "J"; "Y" and tree, I used a Quickie Glue Pen and applied glue.  Once the glue was completely dry, I applied black glitter to the stripes; red glitter to the "J"; green glitter to the "Y"; and green Perfect Pearls to the tree. I cut the image to size and attached it to a green mat and then attached to the front of the card. A very quick and easy card!

Stamp #221 - Christmas Tag

To create this tag I started with your basic manila tag and used a piece of vintage sheet music from a book I purchased at a flea market really cheap.  I tore the sheet music to size and inked all around with Tim Holtz Antique Photo Distressing ink.  Next, I stamped the tree with Moss Green ink and applied clear embossing powder and heat embossed.  I then took a Quickie Glue Pen and randomly applied glue over the tree and let it dry completely. Next step was applying Tim Holtz Distress Glitter (clear rock candy) and rubbing it over the tree and then attaching it to the base tag.  I cut the silhouette of the carolers on black cardstock on my Silhoutte Cameo and attached them to the tag with dimensional glue dots.  Next, I used some Aleene's Glitter Snow on the bottom of the carolers and let that dry.  While the snow was drying, I stamped the Merry Christmas banner  - Stamp #221 - with versamark ink on black cardstock and applied Champagne embossing powder and heat embossed and then fussy cut and attached it to the tag with pop dots.  I added a green double bow at the top and some holly leaves.

Stamp Set # 27 Valentine Cards

This card was made using stampin up set # 27.  I stamped the heart with embossing ink and heat embossed it with pink embossing powder.  I trimmed the edge with lace scraps.  I wanted to make the Love stand out so traced the Love with a quickie glue pen and sprinkled with crystal glitter.  It made the Love totally disappear into the card.  I then used a green pen to color the glitter.  Finally the Love stood out and could be seen.  The green piece of paper behind the heart is a scrap of mulberry paper that I ran through my cuddlebug using a lace design.  I wanted to add something more because it looked plain so decided to use two pieces of ribbon and make a triple bow by winding them together.  I finished the card using a scrap of green paper and stamping the be my valentine stamp and also added a small bit of embroidered flowers to the top of the heart. The heart is attached to the green paper using pop dots and the rest is glued using a glue runner and glue dots.

I wanted to do a different card using the same stamp set and the following card is what I came up with.  I also wanted to incorporate a piece of ugly paper.  You know the one,  we all have them.  Following is a picture of the ugly paper and then the card I created with it.

This card was made using stampin up set # 27.  I stamped the heart with embossing ink and heat embossed it with red embossing powder.   I stamped the small heart, the sentiment and the small hearts using other stamps the # 27 set.  I then cut them out.  The sentiment I cut using a pair of decorative scissors.  I cut a piece of red paper and attached it to the card.  I then trimmed the ugly paper to fit and allow a bit of the red to show.  I trimmed the ugly paper so that when I attached the red heart it would cover the birds head.  I attached the red heart and the remaining pieces using pop dots.  I'm  happy how my ugly paper turned into a pretty valentine card.

Longaberger Basket Christmas Card

This card was made using the following stamps -  Longaberger basket stamp # 944, gingerbread boy # 195, Sentiment stamp # 581, and peeking bear stamp # 1073. 
I stamped the basket stamp and handle.  The basket is made by stamping the design, cutting it out and then folding it and gluing it according to the directions that come with the stamp.  It makes a small basket that you can insert items into.  I attached the handle using brads.  I attached the plaid paper to the card base using a glue runner.  I then cut a piece of red paper and attached it to the plaid paper using a glue runner.  I stamped the sentiment onto a piece of scrap green paper and attached it to  a piece of the plaid paper to make a tag to insert into the basket.  I then stamped the peeking bear and colored him using colored markers.  I then cut him out.  I cut a small strip of card stock and pop dotted the peeking bear onto it and made is the right length to place in the basket and have him peeking over the edge.  I glued it in place with glue dots.  I used a glue runner to attach the basket to the card.  I stamped the ginger bread boy with brown dye unto a scrap of the brown basket paper.  I cut him out and attached him to the card with a pop dot.  I then placed the sentiment tag into the basket.

Stamp #516 Christmas Card

For the outside of this card I randomly stamped small snowflakes with metallic inks (Color Box - ice; Encore - silver; and Archival - platinum planet). Next, I cut out the area where I wanted to place the window frame (die: Impression Obsession small window with shutters) and attached the window frame.
 I then focused on the left side of the inside of the card.  I took a small piece of transparency plastic and attached it so it would look like glass panes and then covered with printed paper.
I stamped the Christmas tree (my own stamp) and the mouse and sentiment from Stamp Set #516 colored  with colored pencils and gamsol.
I then went back to the front of the card and attached the shutters and window box with pop dots for a little dimension. Next, I stamped the row of bows on a scrap of red cardstock and fussy cut it and attached it to the top of the window.  Since my background had snowflakes - I needed SNOW -- but what should I use?  White glitter? Distressed glitter? I remembered I had some Aleene's Glitter Snow (which is thick and dimensional when dried) so I stumbled around my room until I finally found it and applied it to the top of the window; the shutters; the window panes and on the holly leaves on the front of the window box...........after stamping Merry Christmas, my card was now complete.

Stamp Set #512 - Thanksgiving Card

Here's a very quick and simple card using one of the stamps from Stamp Set #512

I stamped the cornucopia on plain white cardstock and painted the fruits with smooch.  For the basket I simply used some cheap brown eye shadow from the Dollar Store and rubbed it all over and then fussy cut.  On the side I used an olive green and pumpkin mulberry paper and tore strips and attached to the card.  The pilgrim and Turkey Day is from my personal stash and mounted on olive green cardstock.  Placed a couple of feathers behind that; attached it to the card and then attached the cornucopia with pop dots.

Glitter Tip

Here's a tip for applying glitter..........use a "Quickie Glue" pen and apply glue to the area you want to apply glitter.  Let the glue dry completely before you sprinkle the glitter.  Once the glue has dried, apply the glitter and rub it in with your finger.  You'll get better coverage this way.
Here is a Thanksgiving card I made using this technique

I created the Happy Thanksgiving in my Silhoutte program and first "cut" it using a sketch pen.  Next I created an outline of the words and then cut it out.  I took my Quickie Glue pen and went over all the letters and let it dry.  Then I sprinkled a bronze ultra glitter over the entire area and rub the glitter into the glue.
The card was lacking something, but I couldn't put my finger on what to add....I decided to stamp some leaves on mulberry papers and fussy cut those and attached.

Here's a quick and simple card. 

First I die cut the edge of red cardstock with Memory Box Cherish Border die and lined the inside of the front of the card with cream cardstock.  Added the red velvet ribbon with organza ruffles to the sides.

Stamped the mouse on cream cardstock and colored with colored pencils; added red glitter to the heart.  Then I die cut the image with Spellbinders Labels 25; applied glue all around the edge and let the glue dry completely!!  Once the glue was dry and tacky, I applied red flower soft.  Attached the image with pop dots and stamped the Happy Valentines Day; inked around and attached to card.

Storage for Dies

I don't know about you, but I've tried all different ways to store my dies and have them easily available and couldn't find the perfect solution until now.
First, I purchased the EZbinder by Crafters Companion at a local craft store for $10.00 which comes with 3 magnetic sheets.

 I loved it, but 3 pages was hardly enough to store all my dies. You can purchase additional sheets at $5.00 per pack and you only get 3 more pages.....still not enough pages so here is how I have solved that problem and saved some money.

MAGNETIC VENT COVERS! Yep, that's right, vent covers I purchased at Home Depot for $4.48 - pack of 3.  Each sheet is 8" wide and 15" long.  Just cut them to size and use a standard paper punch to punch holes and place them in the storage case (or a 3 ring binder) I ended up with a total of 9 pages!

Since I have 4 of these storage cases I needed a way to know what is in each case so I typed up an index for each case and inserted it in the front.

I'm well on my way to being organized!

 

 

Stamps #54 & 625 Christmas Card

On this card I used 2 different retired Stampin Up sets that we have for sale.

Stamp Set #54 - Two Step Curly Christmas - $8.50

Started out not having a clue as to how I wanted to use these stamps, but after awhile this is what I came up with.....

After finding a background paper I liked (it actually does have some small holly leaves and berries in it) and attaching it to the base card I was stumped!!

I stamped the tree on white cardstock with versamark and heat embossed with gold embossing powder and then painted it with Twinkling H2O - celadon (love, love, love these twinkling H2O paints).  I then decided I wanted to die cut the tree with a Spellbinders die (love these dies!!!). It needed more so I cut another mat from gold metallic cardstock. Then I took a piece of red mulberry paper and tore the edges and attached it to the card; then attached the gold metallic mat and added a red glitter bow.

I stamped the sentiment (stamp set #625) on white cardstock with versamark and applied Judykins sticky stuff (my sister-in-law told me about this product and it's now become one of my favorites!); heat embossed it and applied green glitter; inked the edges with green ink and attached with pop dots.

Stamp #504 Christmas Card

Here's a simple card I made using our Stamp #504 which is a cling mount from The Angel Company that is no longer in business.

For this card I simply used a sheet of vintage sheet music for the top that I picked up at an antique store (really cheap!) and for the bottom a piece of flocked holly leaf paper; wrapped a piece of satin ribbon with gold trim around the paper and attached it to the base card.

Stamped the image on cream cardstock and painted with watercolor pencils (one of my favs to work with!); cut it out and applied Tim Holtz distressing glitter.  If you haven't used Tim Holtz distressing glitter it is FABULOUS!!!!

Attached the poinsettia with pop dots; stamped Merry Christmas (sorry, this stamp is from my personal collection) with versamark and heat embossed with gold embossing powder and used Gold Metallic ink to ink the edges and presto - a simple Christmas card.

 

Stamp #835 Christmas Card

 

This card was created using our Stamp #835 a PSX Noel stamp which we have for sale for $5.50

First,  I stamped the postcard stamp on cream cardstock and crumpled it up into a ball and then straightened it out and used Tim Holtz Vintage Photo distressing ink all over and attached that to the gold metallic piece. Next, I added a piece of red velvet ribbon and attached the gold metallic cardstock to the card base.

 

I stamped the PSX Noel Stamp with versamark ink; heat embossed with gold embossing powder; painted with metallic watercolors and finished it off with distressing glitter and attached to card with pop dots.
