Card Making Party

2 Frugal Fools is trying something new

We are now offering "Card Making" parties!
Here's how it works -- you would host a party at your home and invite your friends.
We will create 4 different cards and you can choose what you would like.  For example, you might want to make a Birthday card for a male;  a Get Well card; a Congratulations on your new home card;  a Sympathy card or you could let us decide on 4 different types of cards.  We bring all the supplies for your guest to make the cards and will show the techniques used in creating each card.
Our Card Making party is different because we are not trying to sell anything - just an afternoon (or evening) of card making, learning new techniques and FUN........
There is NO COST to you as a hostess, but we do charge $10 per person to cover the cost of all the supplies. That's only $2.50 per card.

Birthday Card

Here is a Birthday card I made for a very special lady who will be turning 90 this Saturday.

For this card, I  used a paper napkin to create my background paper and then matted it onto purple cardstock.  The dies I used for this card were from the Sue Wilson California Collection - "Napa Valley" and Memory Box - "Gwyneth Flourish". I added a few flowers and pearls.

To create your own paper using paper napkins you first must tear apart all the layers so you end up with just the layer that has the pattern.  This napkin was a 3 ply and I have to tell you, it wasn't easy separating the layers......Once you have your thin layer, take a sheet of paper - any type of paper will work - I used copy paper for this but you can also use cardstock if you want a thicker paper.  Lay your paper on something solid - I used a strong piece of cardboard on top of another larger sheet of paper and placed that on my ironing board.  Next, cut a piece of plastic wrap (yep, the kind you keep in your kitchen) and lay that on top of your paper.  Place your napkin on top of the plastic wrap and then a couple sheets of copy paper and iron with a hot iron - NO STEAM...... the plastic wrap with melt and adhere the napkin to the paper.

This is a great way to keep a theme going for any type of party --- your invitation can match your napkins!

Hope you have fun with this technique and I'd love to see some of the results.

We've been so busy with sales and sorting through new items I have completely neglected this blog and haven't been posting anything for a very long time.  Of course with it being summer and lots of activities going on, that has also been a factor with my neglect.  I know, I know, that's a pretty poor excuse but I am hoping to get some things together to post here real soon........right now I'm working on a Birthday Card which was created with a paper napkin for the background.  As soon as the card is finished, I will post it along with the instructions for using paper napkins to create your own background papers.
